Miniatures

about Miniatures

Before the age of photography, miniatures were a small and easy way to carry an image of your loved one with you.

Miniatures can be painted of any subject, including portraits, landscapes, still life, wildlife etc. To classify as a miniature in the Royal Miniature Society’s exhibitions, there are strict size constraints of 6 x 4.5 inches.

"With a maximum frame size of 6 by 4.5 inches, all have one endearing feature — exquisite detail."

I often paint miniatures as part of a collection of similar pictures that can be grouped together, such as with flowers or fruits. However, I am also commissioned to paint a lot of portraits as individual works.
